Typed letter signed: "Norman Cook" in black ink. Irregularly cut 6x2½ clipping on 7¾x7½ piece of paper. Clipping of letterhead also affixed reading "Corporation of London/ Guildhall Museum". London, England. June 21, 1971. Addressed to a Mr. Victor Croxford. In full: "Your letter has been forwarded to me and I was interested to read of your varied activities. I am returning the sample which you enclosed in your letter as I am sure that you will need it back, and I append, as requested, my autograph. Yours sincerely". Norman Cook was a well-known London museum figure, best known for his work to establish the Museum of London. A trained archaeologist, Cook dedicated his career to curation throughout Great Britain, in places such as the Southampton Museum and the Guildhall Museum in the City of London; it was at these museums that he found impressive collections of ancient artifacts, and he joined with the Corporation of London to open the Museum of London, whose opening was even attended by the Queen in 1976. Cook furthermore served as President of the Museums Association and the Vice-President of the Society of Antiquaries. Very irregularly cut and pasted. Toned. Creased throughout. Adhesive glue stains on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
