NORMAN KRASNA
Authentic Libretti of the Gilbert and Sullivan Operas, inscribed "to Danny" on the flyleaf
Inscribed Book signed: "For Danny,/Whom I treasure/more than the [arrow draw to pencil notation (unknown hand) "from the Danny Thomas library"]/Love,/Norman Krasna/Aug. 1959", 212 pages, 7x10, hard cover. Complete Libretti of the Gilbert and Sullivan Operas, as presented by the D'oyly Carte Opera Company during their American season, 1934-1935. NY: The Bass Publishers, 1934. American screenwriter (and sometime director and producer) Norman Krasna (1909-1984) received four Academy Award nominations for his screen plays: Princess O'Rourke (1943, which he also directed and which won the award), The Richest Girl in the World (1934), Fury (1936) and The Devil and Miss Jones (1941). His later work, which seems no less distinguished, included White Christmas (1954), Indiscreet (1958), My Geisha (1962) and Sunday in New York (1943). His credits on Broadway were impressive too. Cover worn and faded, corners bent. Pages toned. Binding tight and secure. Pencil note (unknown hand) at upper right section of inscribed page. Ink and pencil marks throughout text. Otherwise, fine condition.
