Inscribed signature: "To Kenneth E. Kendall/Norman Mailer", 5½x8½. Norman Mailer's first
novel, The Naked and the Dead (1948), was a best selling account of combat in World War
II. Mailer won two Pulitzer Prizes: the first for The Armies of the Night (1969), a
nonfiction narrative about a protest march on the Pentagon; the second for The
Executioner's Song (1979), about the life and execution of serial killer Gary Gilmore. Mailer,

detractors, but his literary skills are widely admired. Lightly creased with folds, light horizontal
