NEDDA CASEI, NORMAN TREIGLE and GENE BULLARD
Magazine Photographs signed: "With Warmest/Best Wishes./Nedda Casei", "Norman/Treigle" and "Best Wishes/Gene Bullard", 28 pages, 8½x11. Applause: San Diego Magazine of the Arts, February 1972. Feature article on performance of Boris Godunov at the San Diego Opera. Signed on cast photos on p.18. Casei was cast as Princess Marina, Treigle as Boris Godunov and Bullard as Gregory, a novice, and later as Dimitri the Pretender. American mezzo-soprano NEDDA CASEI (b. 1935) debuted on European stages, including Milan's La Scala, in 1960. She performed with the Met for 21 years and made global concert tours. For ten years she was President of the American Guild of Musical Artists. NORMAN TREIGLE (1927-1975) was leading bass-baritone with the New York City Opera for 20 years, beginning in 1953. A leading advocate of performing opera in the English language, Treigle died young from an overdose of sleeping pills. GENE BULLARD, well known for his performance of Rossini operas, has also performed with choral groups and orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony. Minor moisture stains at lower corners of cover. Otherwise, fine condition.
