The British comedian and talk-show host signs 3½x5½ photograph in
blue ink
Printed photograph signed: "Norman Vaughan" in blue ink. B/w,
3½x5½. Norman Vaughan (1923-2002) was a British comedian who had a long
and successful career in television, theatre, and film. After a series of
singing, dancing and comedy variety shows, Vaughan go his big break when he was
asked to host Sunday Night at the London Palladium (1962-1965)
where his catch-phrases "swinging!" and "dodgy!", accompanied by thumbs up
or down gestures, became well-known throughout the country. He later hosted
The Golden Shot (1972-1973), as well as regularly appeared on
shows such as Celebrity Squares, Give Us a Clue, and
Larry Grayson's Generation Game. He appeared in the films
Come Play with Me (1977) and Hear My Song (1991), as
well as the plays Calamity Jane and No Sex Please, We're
British. Corners rounded. Slightly worn and soiled. Toned. Ink notes on
verso in unknown had. Torn, frayed, and stained on verso, doesn't show through
to front. Otherwise, fine condition.
