Norman Vincent Peale, author of The Power of Positive Thinking, signed this 1968 typed letter to give Theron C. Liddle, managing editor at the Deseret News, permission to use his quotes in a book of quotations.
Typed letter signed "Theron C. Liddle" and "Norman Vincent Peale". 1 page, 8½x11, on Liddle's personalized letterhead as managing editor of the Deseret News. Nov. 25, 1968. Addressed to Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, New York City. Liddle wrote this letter asking Peale for permission to use four quotes attributed to him in a collection of quotations by Liddle. Peale signed this letter giving his assent. PEALE (1898-1993, born in Bowersville, Ohio) was pastor of the Marble Collegiate Church of Manhattan for 52 years. He wrote several books, the most famous being The Power of Positive Thinking (1952), which stayed on the best seller lists for 3½ years. He edited a newsletter and hosted a long-running radio program, The Art of Living (1935-1989). Peale was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1984. LIDDLE published a series of books called A Thought For Today, with quotations by famous people. Lightly toned and creased. Liddle's signature is lightly haloed. Light dents at top edge. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
