Marble Collegiate Church, New York, New York, 1965 March 15. To
Miss Corrine R. Manning, Washington, D.C. In full: "It was heartening
indeed on return from a brief vacation abroad to find your letter on my desk and
to have you speak so kindly of my sermons and writings. You are indeed a good
friend. I was interested to have you recall the time when you took my picture
looking out into the Nordfiord. That is indeed an inspiring place and I look
forward to returning there again. I hope anytime you are in New York you will
worship with us in Marble Church, and that I shall have opportunity to greet you
personally. May God bless you, and best wishes. Cordially yours," Norman
Vincent Peale (1898-1993) was pastor of the Marble Collegiate Church of
Manhattan for 52 years. He wrote several books, the most famous being The
Power of Positive Thinking (1952), which stayed on the best seller lists
for 3½ years. He edited a newsletter and hosted a long-running radio program,
The Art of Living (1935-1989). Peale was awarded the Presidential
Medal of Freedom in 1984. Fold crease through signature. Otherwise, fine
