In full: "I am sorry for this delayed reply to your very kind letter of October 4 concerning my recent speech in Constitution Hall at Washington, D. C. I remember with pleasure our visit on the North Cape Cruise, and whish I might have had opportunity to renew acquaintance with you when I was in Washington. Unfortunately, however, I arrived just in time to deliver my speech, and it was necessary for me to depart immediately following to return to New York. I hope that our paths may cross again some day. In the meantime, it is my sincere prayer that God may guide and richly bless you. Mrs. Peale joins in my best wishes Cordially yours," Norman Vincent Peale (1898-1993) was pastor of the Marble Collegiate Church of Manhattan for 52 years. He wrote several books, the most famous being The Power of Positive Thinking (1952), which stayed on the best seller lists for 3½ years. He edited a newsletter and hosted a long-running radio program, The Art of Living (1935-1989). Peale was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1984. Remnants at corners verso show through.
