GEORGE BLANDA AND KEN STABLERTwo famous Oakland Raiders are shown standing side by side on the field in this color photograph, signed in black felt tip Photograph signed: "To John/George Blanda" and "Ken Stabler", Color 8x10. GEORGE BLANDA (1927-2010) played pro football far longer than anyone else -- 26 years (ten with the Chicago Bears, seven with the Houston Oilers and nine with the Oakland Raiders). In five consecutive games with the Raiders (1970), he won four and tied another with last-second touchdown passes. Blanda threw 236 career touchdown passes and scored 2,002 points, most of them by placekicking. He retired in 1976, just a month shy of his 49th birthday. Blanda was enshrined in the Football Hall of Fame in 1981. American quarterback KENNETH STABLER (1945-2015), had plenty of plaudits to his name by the time the Oakland Raiders picked him up in 1970. He had a record of 29-1 at Foley High School in Foley, Alabama and was an All-American at the University of Alabama (1967), where he helped lead the Crimson Tide to wins in the Orange Bowl (1966) and Sugar Bowl (1967). Stabler was a pro from 1970 to 1984, mostly with the Raiders; he led the Raiders to their first Super Bowl win in 1977. He was a four-time Pro Bowler (1973, 1974, 1976 and 1977), making the first team in 1974 and the Associated Press' 1974 NFL MVP. Stabler was a scrambling quarterback in high school and college but had to change his style to passing after a knee injury. He adapted so well that he was the NFL's passing champion in 1976. After retiring from play, he was a color commentator for CBS's NFL broadcasts and on the radio for Alabama. Fine condition.
