On screen for half a century, English actor Moore (1927-2017) starred in three TV series,
Ivanhoe, The Persuaders and, most famously, The Saint (as Simon Templar, a Bond-type
character who predates Bond in print, 1967). He was cast as James Bond in seven films,
from Live and Let Die (1973) to A View to a Kill (1985). Moore, a KBE, titled his
autobiography My Word is My Bond In recent years, most of Moore has frequently served as
a documentary narrator. Octopussy (1983), the thirteenth James Bond film and the sixth
starring Moore, also featured DAVID MEYER (b. 1947). While playing supporting roles in
mass market films like Firefox (1982) and Octopussy (1983), Meyer has acted in and
produced less conventional entertainments: the film State of Wonder (1984), an unusual
Spanish-language rendering of A Midsummer Night's Dream (1984) and a documentary on
the late Brazilian entertainer Carmen Miranda (1995). Fine condition.
