Typed letter signed "Ogden L Mills". 1 page, 8¼x10¾, on Mills'
personalized stationery. May 9, 1935. Addressed to Miss Shirley Spencer,
New York City. In full: "Dear Miss Spencer: Your article in the 'News'
has been called to my attention, and I want you to know how much I appreciate
your kind observations. Sincerely yours,". Mills (1884-1937) was
President Herbert Hoover's Secretary of the Treasury (1932-1933) as well
as U. S. Representative from New York's 17th Congressional District
(1921-1927) and a New York state senator (1914-1917). Lightly toned and creased.
Light dents at top edge. Rust stains at left edge. Folded in half horizontally
and twice vertically and unfolded. Otherwise in fine
condition.
