OLGA JAMES
The singer signs a note thanking a fan for the "good wishes".

"good/wishes"/Very sincerely, Olga James", in blue ink, 7x4¼. Delightful
star of "Carmen Jones" Miss Olga James. 1959. Olga James was a popular
African-American nightclub singer who probably would have been a bigger star
if born a generation later. She sang three songs on the soundtrack of the
Harry Belafonte/Dorothy Dandridge film Carmen Jones (1954), and
appeared again with Dandridge in the London stage version of A Raisin in the
Sun (1959). She appeared on Broadway in just one show, Mr. Wonderful
(1956-1957). She was featured on Steve Allen's TV variety show (1956), and
returned a decade later as "Verna Kincaid" on 9 episodes of The Bill Cosby
Show (1969-1971). Hand decorated. Left edge worn. Fine condition.
