. He has signed as Olin Howlin, a pseudonym of his. Extremely rare!
Inscribed picture postcard signed: "To "Bill"/From/The guy who/shot "Belle Starr"/Olin Howlin", in ink, Sepia 3½x5½. Olin Howland (1886-1959) wan an American film and stage actor, making his acting debut on the Broadway stage with the romantic play The Girl and the Wizard (1909). This was followed by several more original Broadway plays, including Leave It to Jane (1917), Just Because (1922), and Wildflower (1923). In film, he began by appearing in minor roles in a number of silent films, often using the name Olin Howlin when credited. It was not until the transition to sound that Howland found a string of success in a number of Western productions, appearing as a character actor in Angel and the Badman (1947) and Hopalong Cassidy (1952) among others. His last acting appearance was in 1959, the year of his death. Corners lightly worn. Faint stains along top and bottom margin. Mounting remnants on verso. Ink print on verso. Signature faded in some areas, but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
