Rodeo rider Winifred Maurice Harrison (1920-1990) was given the name SUNSET CARSON by Republic Studios, for whom he starred in a number of western films in the mid-1940s. He starred in his own film series, beginning with The Sheriff of Cimarron (1945). He was later a popular guest at B Western nostalgia shows, and hosted a TV film revival series, Six Gun Heroes. PEGGY STEWART (born in 1923) appeared in many films, mostly Westerns, from the late 1930s into the 1960s. She was one of Republic Picture's leading ladies in the 1940s. Stewart, as well as Carson until his death, remained popular figures at Western film and nostalgia gatherings. American film director THOMAS CARR (1907-1997) began acting in 1915 and directing in 1945. As a director he made several B-movies, television shows and television serials. Early in his directing career he made several films including Oregon Trail (1945), The Cherokee Flash (1945), Superman (1948) and Congo Bill (1948). Later, he directed numerous episodes of well-known television programs like Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok (7 episodes), Hopalong Cassidy (6 episodes), Dick Tracy (10 episodes), The Adventures of Superman (37 episodes), Trackdown (18 episodes), Wanted: Dead or Alive (26 episodes), Stagecoach West (17 episodes) and Rawhide (28 episodes).
