History of Old St. Nick imprinted on verso. In the early 1950s, ORVILLE
REDENBACHER (1907-1995) developed the nation's first gourmet popcorn
in his native Indiana. After selling out to Hunt-Wesson in 1976, the
"folksy" Redenbacher continued as spokesman for the product. LEE IACOCCA,
Iacocca, born in 1924, hired by Chrysler Corporation in 1979, bailed
the company out by getting government financing, restricting operations and
introducing innovative marketing. By 1981, Chrysler showed a small profit;
three years later, the company announced record profits. Iacocca, who retired as
CEO in 1992, had previously served as General Manager and Vice President of
Ford and was credited with bringing the sporty, inexpensive and
successful Mustang to market. Named President of Ford in 1970, he was
dismissed eight years later. WALLY AMOS, born in 1936, called
the man who "put the chic into chips" by Time magazine, opened his
first chocolate chip cookie store in 1975. Within five years, his revenues
reached $5 million, largely through sales to upscale department stores. In 1969,
DAVE THOMAS (1932-2002), a former Kentucky Fried Chicken franchisee,
founded Wendy's, a hamburger restaurant that featured his daughter's name
and likeness. Thomas began appearing in advertising for Wendy's International,
Inc. in 1989. Fine condition.
