He signs a document regarding his home in New Rochelle, New York.
Document signed: "Ossie Davis", 2p, 8½x13¼, front and verso. Westchester County, New York, 1962 April 9. Headed: "Business Certificate for Partners". Not filled in except with Davis' typed name and residence address. Also signed: "Harold L. Wood" as Notary Public. Wood has also printed his name at lower left and written "64" at date on which his commission expires. In the year his signed this document, Davis appeared in the made-for-TV movie, Seven Times Monday. Multitalented actor/director/screenwriter/historian Ossie Davis (1917-2005) married singer/actress Ruby Dee in 1948, two years after they met when he made his Broadway debut in Jeb Turner. Over the years, the couple appeared together on Broadway (A Raisin in the Sun), screen (debuting in No Way Out in 1950) and television (from Roots: The Next Generation to the PBS series With Ossie & Ruby). They were also active in social causes, including Black voting rights and the fight against sickle cell anemia. In 1963, Davis and Dee participated in Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.'s March on Washington, and Davis gave the eulogies at the funerals of Malcolm X in 1965 and Dr. King in 1969. Lightly creased with folds, not at signatures. Lightly yellowed at blank margins, light paper clip impression at upper margin. Overall, fine condition.
