In full: "Thank you for your letter. It is good to know that people care. All of us feel increased when what we do is well received and appreciated. I also appreciate the fact that you took the time to tell me so. May you enjoy much success and satisfaction in your work and in your life." Multitalented actor/director/screenwriter/historian Ossie Davis (1917-2005) married singer/actress Ruby Dee in 1948, two years after they met when he made his Broadway debut in Jeb Turner. Over the years, the couple appeared together on Broadway (A Raisin in the Sun), screen (debuting in No Way Out in 1950) and television (from Roots: The Next Generation to the PBS series With Ossie & Ruby). They were also active in social causes, including Black voting rights and the fight against sickle cell anemia. In 1963, Davis and Dee participated in Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s March on Washington, and Davis gave the eulogies at the funerals of Malcolm X in 1965 and Dr. King in 1969. Surface creases. Corners slightly worn and creased.
