Coming in 1995, Othello starring LAURENCE FISHBURNE as Othello and IRENE JACOB as Desdemona was the first major motion picture to cast an African American in the Othello role, though independent stage and film productions predated this film. Although it received fairly positive reviews, the film was not a financial success, grossing only $2.1 million to make up for it's $11 million budget. However, the film did help bring Laurence Fishburne more popularity, and bolstered his career for future films. Slightly bowed. Fine condition.
