Anderson broke Chuck Foreman's career rushing records at the University of
Miami, becoming the first player to rush for more than 1,000 yards in the
school's history his senior year with 1,266 yards. He was named The Sporting
News and the American Football Coaches First Team All-American and received
All-American honorable mentions by both AP and UPI and graduated in 1979 as
the team's all-time leading rusher with 3,331 yards. He was named the NFL
Offensive Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press (AP) with the St. Louis
Cardinals in 1979, and the MVP of Super Bowl XXV in 1991 when playing
with the New York Giants. JOE MORRIS (b. 1960), who played his college
ball for Syracuse, was a running back for the New York Giants (1982-1988) and
briefly with the Cleveland Browns in 1991. Morris scored a touchdown on his very
first carry, a preview of things to come. A Pro Bowl selection in 1985 and
1986, he rushed for 1,336 yards and a league-leading 21 touchdowns in 1985, one
of his four seasons with over 1,000 yards rushing. He was a key component
of the Giants first ever Super Bowl championship team in 1987. Today, Morris
is co-owner of the New Jersey Red Dogs of the Arena Football League. Linebacker
HARRY CARSON (b. 1953) starred for South Carolina State (1972-1975),
sparking the team to an NCAA defensive record of allowing only 29 points in 10
games. As a pro, he played his entire career with the New York Giants
(1976-1988), a key component of a defense which was called "the Crunch
Bunch" and "the Big Blue Wrecking Crew." He led the team in tackles for
five years, and was captain for ten, named to the Pro Bowl nine times. He
made seven tackles in the Giants' first Super Bowl victory (SB XXI). Carson was
elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002, and to the Pro hall in
2006. He later became a sports broadcaster, and founded his own sports
consulting and promotion firm. Punter SEAN LANDETA (b. 1962), out
of Towson State, played in all three seasons of the US Football League
(1983-1985) before joining the NFL's New York Giants (1985-1993). He would
become the last active player to have played in the USFL, and the last active
veteran of the Giants teams that won Super Bowls XXI and XXV. He remained
active through 2005, playing for the Rams, Buccaneers, Packers and Eagles. In
his career, Landeta kicked 1,401 punts for an average of 43.3 yard per punt,
including 166 touchbacks. Fine condition.
