OTTO HULETT
A vintage 3½x5¾ candid photograph of the actor standing next to a gentleman, acquired from the collection of Francis and Violet Zane. Extremely rare!
Photograph signed: "Otto Hulett", in blue ink, B/w 3½x5¾. Otto Hulett (1898-1983) was an actor of Broadway fame, appearing in almost 40 Broadway productions during his 38 year stage career. His first Broadway play was in the 1924 original The Little Clay Cart, appearing under the name Otto Hulicius instead of Otto Hulett. Several other plays would be credited under this alias until his appearance in If (1927). While Hulett never did have any starring roles on Broadway, he was a well-liked performer, appearing in plays such as Ten Million Ghosts (1936), My Fair Ladies (1941), The Diary of Anne Frank (1955), and Come On Strong (1962). In addition to his stage work, he also appeared in a number of small roles in television series and movies. This photograph is from the collection of Francis and Violet Zane, Hawaii natives who moved to California in the 1920's. Francis Zane had a job at the historic Curran Theater and the San Francisco Opera House, which is where he began his massive collection, with photographs and materials ranging from the 1920's to 1960's. The location and luck of his occupation would land him smack dab in the middle of the celebrity world, allowing him to capture some of the most unique and interesting pieces of Hollywood History. Edges decoratively cut. Corners lightly worn and creased. Adhesive residue on left margin. Lightly bowed. Otherwise, fine condition.
