Otto Preminger signs the cast page of a program for the Broadway
play, My Dear Children.
Program Page signed: "Otto Preminger" on cast page, 1p, 5¾x9½.
New York City, circa January-May 1940. Program for the Broadway play,
My Dear Children, which was directed by Preminger. The play, which
ran at the Belasco Theatre from January 1, 1940-May 18, 1940, was produced by
Richard Aldrich and Richard Myers and starred John Barrymore as Allan Manville.
Preminger produced, directed and staged a number of Broadway plays from
1935-1973. Otto Preminger (1906-1986), who was best known as a film
director, became an independent producer and director in the early 1950s. He was
nominated for Academy Awards for Best Director for Laura (1944)
and The Cardinal (1963). His films, which often broke new ground in
Hollywood, also include Forever Amber (1947), Stalag 17
(1953), The Moon is Blue (1953), Carmen Jones (1954), The Man
With the Golden Arm (1955), Porgy and Bess (1959), Anatomy of a
Murder (1959), Exodus (1960), Advise and Consent (1962), In
Harm's Way (1965) and Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon (1970).
Preminger was also known to TV audiences for his portrayal of the villainous
Mr. Freeze in the Batman TV series. Lightly creased and soiled at
lower margin. Frayed at upper edge. Overall, fine condition.
