for "The Damnation of Faust" at the Royal Festival Hall on June 25, 1957.
English bass vocalist Owen Brannigan (1908-1973) performed in many musical
genres: opera, specializing in buffo (comic) roles; oratorios, Gilbert and
Sullivan musicals, and English folksongs. His opera work was closely
associated with Mozart and Britten. He was honored with an OBE in 1964.
