Signatures of the popular bandleader and actor and the British composer and bandleader.
Signature: "Ozzie/Nelson" and, on verso, "[illegible] Ray Noble", 6x4¼ album leaf (two album leaves have been pasted together). At lower right margin of Nelson's side, someone has written: "Red Skelton Broadcast/R.C.A. Building/New York, New York/April 6, 1943". At left margin of Noble's side, someone has written: "Chesterfield Show Broadcast/with/Burns and Allen/September 30, 1938/June 2, 1939" and written Noble's name at lower margin. Nelson's popularity on Red Skelton's radio show led to his creating his own radio show, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, in 1944, the year after this autograph was signed. Radio and television stars Ozzie and Harriet Nelson are best known for their TV show, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet (1952-1965), which also starred their two real-life sons, David and Ricky (later Rick) Nelson. Ozzie not only acted in the situation comedy, he was the show's producer, director and head writer. The couple had originated the show on CBS Radio, beginning in 1944, and there was also a feature film version, Here Come the Nelsons (1952), that helped to launch the successful TV show. In 1932, HARRIET HILLIARD (1909-1994), born Peggy Lou Snyder, began singing with the band formed by OZZIE NELSON (1907-1975) two years earlier. They married on October 6, 1935. The couple would later star in the short-lived syndicated sitcom, Ozzie's Girls (1973-1974), which Ozzie wrote, produced and directed as well as starred in. British composer and orchestra leader RAYMOND NOBLE (1907-1978), born Stanley Raymond Noble, is best known for his songs, "The Very Thought of You" (his theme song), "Goodnight, Sweetheart", "I Hadn't Anyone Till You" and "The Touch of Your Lips". The leader of Ray Noble and His Orchestra, Nobel showcased his talents in several feature films, including The Big Broadcast of 1936 (1935), The Pride of the Yankees (1942), Here We Go Again (1942) and Lake Placid Serenade (1944). Noble was posthumously inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1996. Lightly creased, touching writing, mid-vertical fold on Noble's side (not at signature). Lightly soiled at blank areas. Paper loss at right margin of Nelson's side from removal from bound book. Overall, fair condition.
