Ozzy Osbourne (1948-2025), the colorful and controversial singer with the heavy metal group Black Sabbath from 1970 to 1978, was a pioneer "shock rocker." Known for his dark lyrics and theatrical performances, he helped define the heavy metal genre with hits like "Paranoid," "Iron Man," and "War Pigs." After being dismissed from Black Sabbath, he launched a successful solo career beginning in 1980 with Blizzard of Ozz, featuring the hit "Crazy Train." All of his solo albums of original material, which often focused on themes of the occult, visions of hell, and despair, achieved multi-platinum status. His public image shifted dramatically when he and his family starred in the MTV reality show The Osbournes (2002-2005), which presented him as a bumbling but likable patriarch, endearing him to a new generation of fans. Despite ongoing health issues, including a Parkinson's diagnosis revealed in 2020, Osbourne continued to record and perform, releasing later albums such as Ordinary Man (2020) and Patient Number 9 (2022), both of which received critical acclaim and commercial success. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006 and has won multiple Grammy Awards, including Best Metal Performance. Fine condition.
