Typed Letter signed: "Paddy Chayefsky", 1 page, 7¼x10½. New York, New York, 1975 January 30. On his personal letterhead addressed to Mr. Robert F. Allen, Jr., Lewiston, Maine. In full: "Dear Mr. Allen: Thank you very much for your kind wishes on my birthday, and I wish for you and your wife all the good things you have wished for me. Thank you again. Sincerely yours," Playwright Paddy Chayefsky (1923-1981), born Sidney Chayefsky, had his earliest writings published in "The Magpie", the literary magazine of his Bronx high school, De Witt Clinton. He wrote numerous screenplays for television in the 1950s (Goodyear Television Playhouse, Philco Playhouse, etc.) and won three Academy Awards for Best Screenplay for Marty (1956), The Hospital (1972) and Network (1977). Accompanied by the transmittal envelope, postmarked New York, New York, January 30, 1975. Normal mailing fold. Lightly soiled. Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
