To "Dear Mr. Barnaby Conrad", of Carpinteria, California, In full: "I don't know how to apologize for being so long in answering your letter of December 10, 1976. I can only explain that your letter, and a number of others, were misplaced by a secretary who is no longer with us. Anyway, I still don't know what to do with writers conferences. But if you want to try me again this year, who knows? Again, please forgive me for being so long in responding." Written the year playwright Paddy Chayefsky (1923-1981), born Sidney Chayefsky, won the Academy Award for Best Screenplay for Network. He had previously won Oscars in the category for Marty (1956) and The Hospital (1972) and had written numerous screenplays for 1950s television anthologies (Goodyear Television Playhouse, Philco Playhouse, etc.) Normal mailing folds. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
