PAGE JOHNSON
Signed Autograph Letter (1984) discussing his acting career
Autograph Letter signed: "Page Johnson", 1 page, 8x10. New York, N. Y., 1984 September 15. On personal embossed letterhead to the American Museum of Historical Documents. In full: "My career started in 1951 in Olivia de Haviland's 'Romeo & Juliet' on Broadway. My first Actors Equity job was with Estelle Winwood in a summer stock production of 'The Royal Family.' On Broadway I appeared also in 'Camino Real', 'The Lover', 'Red Rose for Me' & 'You Can't Take It With You'. Off Broadway in 'The Enchanted', 'In April Once' (for which I won a Theater World Award) and 'Boys in the Band' (later at Caesar's Palace). I am currently in Sam Shepard's 'Fool for Love' at the Douglas Fairbanks Theater in New York. I was a member of Ellis Robb's Association of Producing Artists for five years. I toured coast to coast as the Governor in 'Best Little Whorehouse in Texas' (and may repeat that stint later in Las Vegas). I had the great pleasure of playing Aegis to Dame Judith Alexander's 'Medea.' I have had a wonderful time in the theater, and it's just beginning. Sincerely" [signature] I forgot to include "Equus' for two years on Broadway." In addition to the stage career Page Johnson (b. 1930) has summarized here, he has made occasional TV appearances, from an episode of East Side/West Side (1964) to two on The Job (2002). Fine condition.
