the Best/Troy Donahue". B/w, 8x10.Still for the Warner Bros classic
Parrish (1961). Parrish, directed and produced by Delmer Daves, is
a film based on the novel by Mildred Savage. In the movie, Parrish McLean
(Donahue) lives with his mother (Claudette Colbert) on the Sala Post tobacco
plantation in Connecticut. However, he is at odds with his new stepfather,
tobacco tycoon Judd Raike (Karl Malden). McBain plays Alison Post, the daughter
of the tobacco plantation owner. Troy Donahue (1936-2001, born Merle
Johnson, Jr. in New York City) was an American screen and television actor. He
made his film debut in an uncredited role in 1957's Man Afraid. Two years
later, after being signed as a contract player by Warner Bros., Donahue
became a teen heartthrob when the studio cast him in A Summer Place
(1959). Donahue, whose most successful film was Parrish (1961),
appeared in films through 2000. He also starred in two television series,
Surfside Six (1960-1962) and Hawaiian Eye (1962-1963),
and made guest appearances on a long list of TV shows, from 1958 (The
Californians) through 1990 (Monsters). Donahue's four wives
included actress Suzanne Pleshette, to whom he was briefly married from
January 4 to September 8, 1964. Diane McBain starred in the TV series
Surfside 6 (1960-1962) and made frequent guest appearances through the
1960s. She appeared less frequently thereafter, but recently played the
grandmother in several episodes of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
During her forty-two year career McBain was cast in over sixty titles
including Parrish (1961), Spinout (1966), The
Wild Season (1971), Besotted (2001), and her lost known
onscreen appearance as Lovely Carmichael in the 2001 television series
Strong Medicine. Since 2001, McBain has not pursued any work in
the film industry. Ink from signatures seep through to verso of photo. Fine
