London, 1879 June 5. To W. W. Greenough, in full: "I lose no
time in acknowledging receipt of your favored of the 10th inst. and the enclosed
cheque for £20 on Baring brothers. Pray accept my grateful thanks for it and
believe me, very sincerely yours". Spanish scholar Pascual de Guyangos y
Arce (1809-1897) was a Spanish historian who resided in England for
several years, and whose English-language articles were widely read there. A
Professor of Arabic at the University of Madrid, Guyangos wrote a history
of the Moorish dynasties in Spain, and a thesis on Spanish chivalric romance.
