PAT BOONE
The recording artist and actor signs a color postcard photograph from the Hotel Sahara
Las Vegas
Postcard Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Jerilyn/Pat Boone". Color, 5x8. Printed across
the bottom: "A New High/in Resort/Living!/HOTEL/SAHARA/LAS VEGAS,
NEVADA/Featuring…/The Most American Girls/in the World!" The Sahara opened in
1952. Pat Boone (b. 1934) is an immensely popular recording star and actor who was
most popular in the late 1950s. Among the biggest of his 38 Top 40 hits were "Don't
Forbid Me", "April Love" and "Love Letters in the Sand" (all from 1957). He hosted a TV
show (1957-1960) and appeared in 15 feature films, including Bernadine and April Love
(1957). His smooth style and clean cut good looks appealed not only to many teens, but also
to parents appalled by Elvis Presley and the rebellious side of rock and roll. Most of his later
successes came in Christian music, but his album No More Mr. Nice Guy (1997), a tongue
in cheek cover of heavy metal hits, angered many of his religious fans who failed to get the
joke. Pat is the father of singer Debby Boone. Two ½-inch marks at forehead. Two ¼-inch
scratch marks at upper right blank area. Stain at upper right blank area. Lower blank area
slightly soiled. Purple marker notes and tape on verso, no show through.
