PAT BOONE and DEBBY BOONE
Small black and white newspaper photograph of Pat and Debby Boone.
Newspaper Photograph signed: "Pat/Boone" and "Debby/Boone". B/w, 5x5¾. Singer and actor PAT BOONE was an immensely popular recording star in the late 1950s. Among the biggest of his 38 Top 40 hits were "Don't Forbid Me", "April Love" and "Love Letters in the Sand" (all from 1957). He hosted a TV show (1957-1960) and appeared in 15 feature films, including Bernadine and April Love (1957). His smooth style and clean cut good looks appealed not only to many teens, but also to parents appalled by Elvis Presley and the rebellious side of rock and roll. Most of his later successes came in Christian music, but his album No More Mr. Nice Guy, a tongue in cheek cover of heavy metal hits, angered many of his religious fans who failed to get the joke. DEBBY BOONE, Pat's daughter, achieved fame of her own with a number one hit, "You Light Up My Life", and won a Grammy Award as Best New Artist (1977). In the 1980s, she turned to Christian music, winning two more Grammys in that category. The versatile Boone has appeared on Broadway and in TV movies. She has also written children's books and an autobiography. Ink has bleed. Fine condition.
