Color, older image of Currie receiving an award, with Buttram standing beside her, signed by him and inscribed by her
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Pat Buttram ", "My good wishes to Allen/Louise Currie". Color, 10x8. Shown with George Brent, Joan Blondell and one other in a movie still from The Corpse Came C. O. D. (1947). While a comedian at WLS radio's National Barn Dance, PAT BUTTRAM (1915-1994) met Gene Autry. Buttram followed Autry to the latter's own show, Melody Ranch in the 1940s. They made several pictures together at both Republic and Columbia studios. The two also costarred on CBS-TV's The Gene Autry Show from 1950-1956. From 1965-1971, Buttram was a regular on the CBS sitcom Green Acres as Mr. Haney. LOUISE CURRIE (1913-2013) specialized in playing heroines in B-movies and serials (including the standout 1941 Republic serial The Adventures of Captain Marvel). Currie also appeared with Bela Lugosi in three of his lesser efforts: You'll Find Out (1940), The Ape Man (1943) and Voodoo Man (1944) and in an unaccredited role as a reporter in Citizen Kane. All in all, she appeared in over 40 movie and TV shows between 1940 and 1956. Here she is receiving an award for her performance in Stardust on the Sage (1942), a Gene Autry movie, but with Smiley Burnett instead of Pat Buttram in the sidekick role. Fine condition.
