Autograph Letter signed: "Pat Carroll", 1 page, 10½x8 unfolded, 5¼x8 folded card bearing a printed caricature of the actress as Gertrude Stein. Durnham, N.C. 1984 July 29. To "Dear Mr. Axelrod -", in full: "Your letter of June 19th forwarded to me here. I am delighted to send along the enclosed [item not included] & you may use this Hershfeld caricature card as well. Best wishes for your success. Sincerely,". Trained for musical comedy, Pat Carroll (b. 1927) appeared on stage from 1950 and starred in a Broadway revival of On the Town (1959). A popular performer on TV comedy variety shows of the early 1950s (Jackie Gleason, Red Buttons and Sid Caesar), she won an Emmy for her work on Caesar's show (1957). She was a regular on The Danny Thomas Show (1961-1964) and several later series. Carroll is known as the voice of sea-witch Ursula in Disney's The Little Mermaid (1989), and has a one-woman stage show, appearing as Gertrude Stein. Fine condition.
