(1939-2020) became an assistant football coach to Bear Bryant at the University of Alabama.
He took over as head coach at East Carolina University in 1974 and had a 48-18-1 record in 6
seasons there, then guided the University of Wyoming to a 6-5-0 mark in 1980. In 1981, Dye
was named head coach and athletic director at Auburn University. He resigned as athletic
director after a former player charged that he'd received payments from alumni and assistant
coaches. In the wake of the scandal, Auburn was put on probation by the NCAA and Dye
resigned his coaching job after the 1992 season. He had a 99-39-4 record at Auburn and was
153-62-5 overall for a .707 winning percentage. Fine condition.
