PAT PATERSON
Vintage photo in boldly striped blouse, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/Pat Paterson". B/w, 8x10. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: September 21, 1936. English actress Pat Paterson (1910-1978) appeared in over 20 movies between 1931 and 1939. She had mostly supporting roles in British films before her Hollywood debut opposite Spencer Tracy in Bottoms Up (1934). She played the endangered heroine of Charlie Chan in Egypt (1935). During World War II, she devoted herself to the war effort, and made no further films. She was married to actor Charles Boyer from 1934 until her death from cancer in 1978. Boyer committed suicide two days after her death. Their only son, Michael Boyer, had shot himself dead playing Russian roulette on his 21st birthday. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Lightly toned around edges. Otherwise, Fine condition.
