PAT QUINN
The NHL player and coach signs his name in blue felt tip on this 5x9½ newspaper photograph
Newspaper photograph signed: "Pat/Quinn", in blue felt tip, B/w photograph 5x9½ affixed to a card. Pat Quinn (1943-2014) is a retired NHL player and coach, playing for 9 seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs (1968-1970), Vancouver Canucks (1970-1972), and the Atlanta Flames (1972-1977). Having a successful pro career through the 70's, Quinn was unfortunately forced to retire early in 1977 after suffering an ankle injury. Shortly after retiring, the Philadelphia Flyers hired him as an assistant coach, and was later promoted to head coach the next season. The Flyers let him go a few years later, but Quinn was picked up by the Los Angeles Kings not too long after while pursuing a law degree. During his time with the Kings, Quinn signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks to become President, General Manager, and Coach. The contract was disputed, but Quinn used his experience with law to find loopholes in the Kings argument, and eventually the contract was honored. His time with the Canucks was successful, but he was ultimately dropped after a new ownership took place. Since then, he has passed through the Toronto Maple Leafs, and most recently was serving for the Edmonton Oilers, though he didn't stay long after an unsuccessful season. In addition to his NHL work, Quinn has also coached Team Canada at the Winter Olympics, bringing the team in 2002 to their first Olympic Gold since 1952. Surface creases. Corners and edges worn. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
