Signature from Miss America 1939 and of the famous Estonian-American journalist affixed to an album page, with b/w newspaper photos of both!

Miss Michigan PATRICIA DONNELLY (1919-2009) was crowned Miss America in 1939. She went on to sing in New York and in two Broadway musicals (The Lady Comes Across and Priorities of 1942, both in 1942). Donnelly later became a traveling editor with husband Robin Harris for William Randolph Hearst. Journalist HELENA CLAYTON was the wife of John Clayton, an American foreign correspondent who lived in Europe before World War II. Although a native of Estonia in Imperial Russia, she became an American citizen. During years of traveling and news gathering in many foreign capitals she witnessed important historical events. She gave an intimate picture of the African and Russian scene.Lightly toned and creased. Newspaper photo touches Donnelly's signature. Light discoloration touches both signatures. Mounting residue above both signatures (does not touch signatures). Album page has tears through center and in bottom right corner. Paper loss in top left corner. Bottom left corner is missing and cracked. Light discoloration in top left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
