PATRICIA ELLIOT The actress thanks John Willis, Editor of Theatre World, for his birthday wishes and wishes him a Happy Thanksgiving in return Autograph Letter signed: "Patricia" in black ink, 5x8 open flat, 5x4 closed. No place, 1981. Original mailing envelope included. In full: "Dearest John - A bit late to be saying Thank you for your wonderful July Birthday Wishes! Happy Thanksgiving, dear one -". Patricia Elliot (1942-2015) began acting in 1968, making both her first notable stage appearance (King Lear) and her first film appearance (The Green Slime) in minor roles. She would go on to star in a number of plays, including her Tony Award-winning performance in the Stephen Sondheim musical A Little Night Music (1973). Throughout the 1990s she performed in several TV movies such as Men in White (1998) and The Ladies (1987). Elliot is perhaps best known for her recurring role as Renee Buchanan in One Life To Live (1968-2013), which she maintained from 1990 until 2011. John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Slightly soiled. Corners gently worn and creased. Stain on fold. Otherwise, fine condition.
