January 22, 1940. Ellis (1916-1970) got her start on the stage in her
early teens and made her screen debut in 1932, at the tender age of 16. Her busy
movie schedule included over 40 movies between 1932 and 1939, mostly as a
B-movie leading lady. One of more notable roles was opposite Laurel and Hardy
in their short feature Block-Heads (1938). She retired to married
life in 1939. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day,
pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many
celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman
presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen.
