PATSY RUTH MILLER
Shown in sweater, period hat and men's tie, inscribed to Warner Bros. executive "Doc" Salomon
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To 'Doc' -/Best wishes - always -/from/Patsy Ruth Miller". Sepia, 10x8. PATSY RUTH MILLER (1904-1995) had her most famous screen role as Esmerelda opposite Lon Chaney's Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923). Later in the decade she played mostly in light romantic comedies. She had an even more successful second career as a writer of radio scripts and short stories, winning three O'Henry awards for the latter. A. M. "Doc" Salomon, a friend of studio mogul Jack Warner who rose to head the London branch of Warner Bros. studios, compiled an extensive collection of celebrity autographs during his nearly 30 years with the studio. A V-1 rocket demolished his London studio in July 1944 and killed Salomon, but his photo collection miraculously survived. Lightly toned. Heavy mounting residue on verso. Corners lightly worn. Signature light but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
