Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Ann/Always,/Paul
Anka/'94'". B/w, 8x10. Pop singer Paul Anka (b. 1941 in Ottawa, Canada) was
a successful teenage heartthrob of the late '50s and early '60s. His ode to a
former girlfriend, "Diana" was recorded when Anka was 16 years old. The single
hit number one on both sides of the Atlantic in 1957, eventually selling a
reported ten million copies worldwide. He was a successful songwriter, music
businessman and recording artist well into the 1990s. As the teen idol craze
began to cool off in the early '60s, he bought the rights to his old masters,
and made a fortune on reissues alone. He also diversified his career by
appearing in several movie roles and moved toward a nightclub background. He
was one of the first pop singers to do shows in Las Vegas. Ink note on verso
(unknown hand) no show through. Fine condition.
