PAUL BRINEGAR. Photograph inscribed and signed: "Hi Ed/Paul/Brinegar". B/w, 10x8¼ overall, image 9½x6½ (one surface). Typed caption at lower margin: "CLINT EASTWOOD in HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER". Brinegar appeared as Lutie Naylor in High Plains Drifter, a 1973 film that starred Clint Eastwood as the Stranger. In 1973, he also made a guest appearance on a TV series, Dusty's Trail. Screen and television actor Paul Brinegar (1917-1995) is best known for two television roles, Wishbone on Rawhide (1959-1965) and Jim "Dog" Kelly on The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp (1956-1958). He also had recurring roles on Lancer (1969-1970) and Matt Houston (1982-1983), and Brinegar, who had made his small screen debut on Racket Squad in 1952, guest starred on a number of TV series. Brinegar also appeared in a long list of feature films, including Abilene Town (1946, his debut), Young Man With a Horn (1950), Pat and Mike (1952), So Big (1953), A Star is Born (1954), The Spirit of St. Louis (1957), High Plains Drifter (1973), Chattanooga Choo Choo (1984), Maverick (1994) and Wyatt Earp: Return to Tombstone (1994). Ink is lightly smudged at inscription (completely legible). Lightly creased at blank margins and corners. Minor surface creases. Stamp and ink and pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso, which is lightly soiled. Overall, fine condition.
