Special Mets cancellation of a 32-cent US flag stamp. American baseball player Paul Byrd was born on December 3, 1970 in Louisville, Kentucky. He played in the Major Leagues for 14 seasons with the Mets (1995-1996), Braves (1997-1998, 2004), Phillies (1999-2001), Royals (2001-2002), Angels (2005), Indians (2006-2008) and Red Sox (2008-2009). A starting pitcher, his career statistics include an ERA of 4.41, 923 strikeouts and a record of 109-96. Byrd, who had had three 15 win seasons, was selected for the All-Star game in 1999.
