(1888-1964), a Cambridge educated barrister and a veteran of the Royal Canadian
Mounties and of World War I, turn to acting in the late 1920s, often cast as
the quintessential Englishman. He starred on Broadway in Scotland
Yard. (1929) He appeared in over 100 films, playing Mae West's beau in
Goin' to Town (1935) and Joan Crawford's older husband in
Humoresque (1947). He appeared in several of the Basil Rathbone Sherlock
Holmes movies in the mid-1940s, and appeared in many US television series in the
1950s. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued
his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many
celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman
presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain
pen. Minor surface creases, not visible head-on. Otherwise, fine
condition.
