PAUL HOPKINSThe right-handed reliever pens a note to a fan on this lined index card Autograph Note signed: “Good Luck/ Bruce/ Paul Hopkins” in blue ink, 5x3. Paul Henry Hopkins (1904-2004) was a Major League baseball pitcher.He threw for both the Washington Senators in 1927 and 1929 and the St. Louis Browns in 1929. Hopkins had the unfortunate fate of facing the legendary Babe Ruth on September 29, 1927 as his first batter during his Major League debut, and The Home Run King successfully hit his record-tying 59th home run off of Hopkins. The right-hander's stats are as follows: 11 strikeouts and a 2.96 ERA in the 11 games he played in the Majors, finishing with a career record of 1-1. Corners gently worn. Ink note on verso in an unknown hand. Otherwise, fine condition.
