B/w photograph of Paul Laxalt speaking into a cluster of microphones,
signed "with every good wish". Laxalt was Governor and U. S. Senator from
Nevada.
Inscribed photograph inscribed and signed: "For/David Coxon -/with
every/good wish/Paul/Laxalt". B/w, 8x10 overall, 7½x9½ image, one surface.
Laxalt, born in 1922, was a close friend and confidante of President
Reagan and chairman of all three Reagan presidential bids (1976, 1980,
1984). He was also Governor of Nevada (1967-1971) and a U. S. Senator
(1974-1987). He married his first wife Jacalyn Ross in 1946. With their 6
children, they were the largest family ever to occupy the Nevada governor's
mansion. Paul and Jaclyn divorced in 1972; she died in 2004. Laxalt's father was
a Basque immigrant sheepherder. Paul's brother Robert Laxalt (1924-2001) wrote
several books about the Basque experience in America. Fine
condition.
