Color photograph affixed to a 5x10¼. Paul MacLean (b. 1958) is a retired
NHL player, playing for the 11 seasons with the St. Louis Blues (1980-1981,
1989-1991), Winnipeg Jets (1981-1988), and the Detroit Red Wings
(1988-1989). Originally born in France, MacLean moved to Canada at the age
of two, and took up the ever popular sport while growing up. He performed well
in junior leagues, and represented Canada in the 1980 Winter Olympics,
which helped land him a position in the NHL. MacLean's successful career in the
NHL was cut short after suffering from a rib injury, forcing him to retire early
in 1989. He took a break from hockey for several years, but returned to coach in
1993 for the IHL, and now serves as the head coach for the Ottawa Senators.
