PAUL PETTIT Signature from the pitcher intended to be a Hollywood prospect Printed card signed: "Paul/Petit", in blue ink, 5x3. Paul Pettit (1931-2020) was a senior in high school when movie producer Frederick Stephani was looking to make a baseball movie without having to hire an established star. He scouted Pettit and signed him for $85,000, hoping to make a film on his life after he achieved fame. Upon graduation, Pettit was sold to the Pirates for $100,000 as a bonus baby. His career with the Pirates was very brief, only playing in 2 games in 1951 and 10 games in 1952. The supposed film about his story never came to fruition, and Pettit spent the rest of his career in the minors. Fine condition.
