PAUL TRIPP The multi-talented songwriter pens this quotation from his most famous tune, “Tubby the Tuba” Autograph Quotation signed: “[Treble Clef] and “Oh”, thought Tubby, “How Happy I am!”/ So am I.”, in black ink, 5x3. Text is from Tripp's hit children's song, “Tubby the Tuba”. Paul Tripp (1911-2002) was an American author and songwriter who also occasionally acted. After receiving his master's degree in education, Tripp landed a job as the host of Mr. I. Magination (1949-1952), a children's show that featured interesting facts about different job occupations. Tripp went on to host many different children's shows, a few of the most notable being On the Carousel (1955-1959) and Birthday House (1963-1967). His biggest claim to fame, however, was writing the children's tune “Tubby the Tuba” a humorous song about a tuba who wants to sing instead of merely provide accompaniment. Tripp also wrote several children's books including Rabbi Santa Claus and Diary of a Leaf. Lightly toned. Pencil note on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
