Price: $100.00
PAULA KELLY
The actress signs a note on a 4¼x3 card.
Autograph Note signed: "To Kayo/Best Wishes/Paula Kelly", 4¼x3
card. Magazine photograph (color, 1½x2¾) affixed at left (2 surfaces). After
singing with other big bands, including Artie Shaw's, Paula Kelly (1919-1992)
joined the Modernaires, then a part of the Glen Miller Orchestra, in 1940.
The Modernaires, a quintet which also included four males, including Kelly's
husband Hal Dickinson, went on their own when Miller joined the service in 1942.
Singing popular standards in a breezy vocal style, the Modernaires made a
smooth transition from the big band era to the nightclub jazz of later
decades. When Paul Kelly retired in 1978 her daughter, Paula Kelly, Jr.,
took her place with the Modernaires. Fine condition.
